The Mallee Grove Road, Koolunga Fire

ISSUED FOR The Mallee Grove Road, Koolunga Fire

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is currently attending a fire at Mallee Grove Road, seven kilometres north of Koolunga in the states' Mid-North.

The fire has burnt approximately 52 hectares of mixed cropping land.

Around 45 CFS volunteers on 10 trucks supported by 4 fire-bombing aircraft and Farm Firefighting Units, responded to the fire which started at just after 2pm.

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of the firefighters, aerial resources and Farm Firefighting Units, crews quickly contained the fire and limited any impact to property.

CFS crews will continue to actively patrol the fire ground to ensure any hot spots are extinguished and containment lines are strengthened.

This fire is believed to be accidental and started in a lentil paddock. It's a timely reminder to ensure that all farming and harvesting machinery is in good working order.
