$130,000 tractor and hay rake fire near Hallett - 6 October 2023
At approximately 3:45pm, 8 firefighters on two trucks responded to a tractor fire on Ashby Road near Hallett.
Crews from Hallett and Whyte Yarcowie managed to stop the fire from spreading and destroying a nearby crop paddock, however the tractor and also a hay rake were destroyed in the blaze.
The driver was not injured.
The damage bill is estimated at 130 thousand dollars and the cause is undetermined - but thought to be a mechanical failure.
As harvest season approaches, the CFS urges all landowners to ensure their equipment is serviced and carefully maintained ahead of the Fire Danger Season.
