$300,000 truck fire on Eyre Peninsula - 26 August 2023
CFS volunteer firefighters were called to a truck fire on the Eyre Highway between Penong and Ceduna at 3am this morning.
CFS crews from Penong, Ceduna and Streaky Bay were able to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the trailers, which contained mining equipment and supplies, saving the prime mover.
Crews in breathing apparatus inspected several drums of potentially hazardous materials to ensure they did not pose a threat to the community or environment.
Volunteer firefighters will remain on scene this morning to ensure the area is safe.
The total damage bill is estimated to be approximately $300,000.
