Fire Causes $70 000 to One Tree Hill Home

08/06/2014

Firefighters from the SA Country Fire Service and SA Metropolitan Fire Service were responded to reports of a structure fire on One Tree Hill Road, One Tree Hill, north east of Adelaide, just after 9:00pm this evening.

On arrival to the property the more than 45 firefighters from eight appliances and one Bulk Water Carrier found a fire in the lounge room that was spreading to the roof space of the Rockwood Estate home.

Firefighters quickly got to work, some wearing breathing apparatus and managed to stop the further spread of the fire and contain it within 30 minutes.

At this stage it is not known if the occupants were home at the time the fire started.

Early dollar damage estimates have been set at $70 000 with damage confined to the lounge room, roof space and some smoke damage to other areas of the home.

Fire Cause Investigators have been requested to attend, it is believed that the fire may have been started by a combustion heater.

SA Ambulance and SA Police were also on scene.
