Willunga and Yankalilla fires a reminder of season dangers ahead

South Australian Country Fire Service contained two bushfires south of Adelaide yesterday after both were discovered to have been ignited from machinery use (angle grinder and lawn mower).
Since the worst Adelaide Hills fire in 30 years was contained in early January, South Australia has experienced some rainfall and mild temperatures.
State Coordinator Yvette Dowling says the recent weather is no reason for complacency with months of the Fire Danger Season still ahead.
"We want the community to be mindful of their behaviour and aware of ignition sources and the risks machine operation may have in starting a blaze.
"Yesterday's fire events could have been much worse had conditions been less favourable.
"Warmer weather is forecast for later in the week so it's a timely reminder to ensure people are aware of their responsibilities to be vigilant in preventing fires during the Fire Danger Season," she said.
