Conditions at the Bangor fire have eased, with the fire now controlled and no active fire being observed on the ground.

There are large trees still burning well within established control lines. With only minimal rainfall experienced on the fireground, some areas of the fireground are inaccessible to crews and appliances.

While more rain on the fireground would go a long way to assist firefighting efforts, this has also presented issues with tracks becoming slippery and therefore unsafe and hazardous for crews.

A reduced threat has been issued for this incident, as crews continue to mop up, with the work scheduled for the weekend aimed at focussing on patrolling the fireground.

The fireground will not be declared as safe until the CFS is confident there is no smouldering activity across the 35,000 hectare burnt area.

The CFS reminds anyone who is accessing any fire affected area, particularly in areas where large trees are present, to be mindful of unsecured ground caused by burning tree roots.

People should also be mindful of the hazards caused by falling tree limbs, and embers from trees that may still be smouldering. Landholders are urged to assess any large trees on their properties and whether they should be removed.

The public is advised to report any sightings of unattended active flame immediately to triple zero.
