BALAKLAVA AREA SCHOOL FIRE
18/04/2013
UPDATED INFORMATION AND AREA SCHOOL NOT PRIMARY
A fire has destroyed a classroom and damaged two others at a school in Balaklava in the state's Mid North.
The CFS was notified just after 2.30am with crews arriving a short time later to find a large section of the Balaklava Area School in Wallace Street well involved in the blaze.
About 45 firefighters took about two hours to bring the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to a science block but despite their efforts, it still caused an estimated $300,000 damage.
Fire cause investigators have determined that it was deliberately lit.
