Extreme fire danger weather - Thursday 4 December

03/12/2025

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is urging South Australians to be vigilant over the next few days, particularly with the fire weather conditions predicted for tomorrow, Thursday 4 December.
Eight Fire Ban Districts, including Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, Murraylands and the Upper South East have been declared a Total Fire Ban, each with a Fire Danger Rating of Extreme.
Hot and dry conditions along with strong winds are predicted across the state tomorrow. Given these predicted heightened conditions, please consider delaying any high-risk activities such as harvesting, burn-off, campfires, or the use of power tools.
The CFS have already seen multiple fires start across the state, and with the conditions tomorrow we encourage everyone to be prepared and stay informed.
CFS Deputy State Controller Fire and Hazmat, Brenton Hastie, said the public should be aware of weather conditions and mindful of their activities over the coming days.
"We urge anyone travelling around the state to know their risk by checking the Fire Danger Ratings in the Fire Ban District they are travelling in or through and to stay alert and informed in case a bushfire starts."
"Although the warmer weather predicted for tomorrow makes it not the best time to undertake preparation activities, you can do something to prepare by creating or updating your bushfire survival plan and moving flammable items from under your veranda so that if a fire starts, items close to your house don't catch fire."
The fire danger weather predicted for tomorrow is a timely reminder of the predicted increased fire risk for the upcoming bushfire season and the need for South Australians to stay on top of preparing their bushfire survival plans and properties.
