Home Destroyed in Nangwarry Blaze Overnight

Just before midnight SA Country Fire Service firefighters were responded to reports of a house fire at Nangwarry, near Penola in that states Lower South East.

On arrival firefighters found the timber framed house on Laffer Street well alight, the more than 25 firefighters from 5 appliances and a bulk water carrier quickly got to work containing the blaze within 30 minutes.

Whilst the fire did not pose a threat to surrounding homes; firefighting efforts were made difficult due to the powerline connected to the home becoming detached whilst still live. SA Power Networks have been called to attend to property to disconnect power to the line.

The owners of the house were not home at the time the fire start.

The cause is yet to be determine, Fire Cause Investigators from SA Police and SA Metropolitan Fire Service have been responded and will investigate in the morning.

Early dollar damage estimates have been set at $200 000.

SA Ambulance and SA Police were also in attendance, no one was injured in the fire.
