Incident Update
ISSUED FOR AMATA
A large grass fire was reported to the SA Country Fire Service at 06:30pm on Tuesday 15th March 2023. The fire has since burnt 30,900 hectares of native grasslands and Mulga bush 30km to the Northeast of Amata Community.
Local CFS Volunteers have been in attendance throughout this incident conducting asset protection in the local homelands and stations where required. There have been no losses to any assets or infrastructure.
The Gunbarrel Highway to the Northeast of Amata through to the Northern Territory Border has been closed to all vehicles. The local community and travellers are advised to continue monitoring road closures within the area as they will be reviewed throughout the coming days.
The community is advised to monitor the SA Country Fire Service & Bushfires NT websites for up-to-date information as it becomes available.
