Incident Update
ISSUED FOR AMATA
A large grass fire was reported to the SA Country Fire Service at 6:30pm on Tuesday 15th March 2023. The fire has since burnt 48,500 hectares of native grasslands and Mulga bush Northeast of Amata Community.
Local CFS volunteers have been in attendance throughout this incident conducting asset protection in the local homelands and stations where required. There have been no losses to any assets or infrastructure.
The Gunbarrel Highway to the Northeast of Amata through to the Northern Territory border is no longer under threat and is now open.
Smoke and fire may be visible from a distance, but poses no threat to life or property.
