Baldina Fire

ISSUED FOR BALDINA

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) are currently attending a fire in Baldina, approximately 11 km North-East out of the Burra Township.

The fire has burnt approx. 1,400 hectares in steep, hilly terrain.

Approximately 100 CFS Volunteers supported by fire-bombing aircraft, heavy machinery and Farm Fire Units responded to the fire yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of these fire fighters, aerial resources and Farm Fire Units, crews were able to save three farming sheds from being destroyed from the fire.

Overnight CFS firefighters have continued to actively patrol the fire ground to ensure any hot areas are extinguished, this will continue as new crews arrive on the fire ground today.

The fire is now classed as contained and CFS and Department for Environment and Water (DEW) firefighters will remain on scene and in the local area throughout the coming days.
