Grass fire in Binnum

ISSUED FOR BINNUM

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that there is a bushfire near Naracoorte in the State's South-East.

CFS currently has seven trucks attending, with 27 volunteers and is being supported by 20 Farm Fire Units.

The fire was caused by a lightning strike and has burned approximately 100 hectares of scrub and farmland. While the fire is contained, there are a number of trees still candling - or burning from inside the trunk, and this presents a significant hazard.

CFS crews will remain on site into the night, ahead of the warm and patchy rain conditions tomorrow.

South Australia has experienced thousands dry lightning strikes over the past few days, and the CFS urges anyone who sees an unattended fire to please call 000.

For updates visit the CFS website (www.cfs.sa.gov.au) or phone the Information Hotline on 1800 362 361.

This message will be updated as the situation changes or before: Dec 12 2023 19:21
