Grass fire Birdwood in the Mount Lofty Ranges
ISSUED FOR BIRDWOOD
Around 50 CFS Volunteers are continuing to extinguish a fire burning in the Mount Lofty Ranges, near the town of Birdwood. There are 8 CFS trucks 2 bulk water carriers being supported by 4 aerial bombers and 2 observation helicopters.
The fire which started at 3:45 pm this afternoon has burned approximately 18 hectares of grass and scrub. The fire is continuing to burn within a section of scrub and will cause smoke to be visible until dark.
CFS volunteers will remain at the incident for a number of hours, mopping up the fire and ensuring there is no rekindling.
