Update on fire near Clare in the Mid North
ISSUED FOR BOCONNOC PARK
CFS advises that the bushfire at Boconnoc Park west of Clare in the Mid North of the State has eased but the fire is expected to continue to burn during today. CFS has issued an advice message for this fire.
Fire crews remained at the fire overnight and this morning fresh crews have commenced work mopping up and dealing with any hotspots.
The terrain is making some areas of the fire difficult to access. Winds are expected to pick up this morning and this may cause increased fire activity and smoke to be seen in the area.
Heavy machinery will be used at the fire today and Emergency Services will be moving in and around the township of Clare throughout the day. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other personnel please do not enter the fire area unless necessary.
Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant during the day and to continue to check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. Residents to the south of the fire are advised that under today's weather conditions that they are down wind of the fire and winds are expected to increase. Residents are to take this into consideration when checking your Bushfire Survival Plan as the situation may change rapidly. Well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety.
Property owners of the fire affected area are advised to use caution when returning and to be aware of falling trees, reduced visibility and emergency service vehicle movements.
