Update on fire near Clare in the Mid North

ISSUED FOR BOCONNOC PARK

CFS advises that the bushfire at Boconnoc Park, west of Clare in the Mid North remains within control lines however there are still pockets of fire burning.

CFS has issued a BUSHFIRE ADVICE MESSAGE for this fire.

Fire crews are continuing to identify and deal with hotspots and active fire, whilst heavy machinery is assisting crews to secure the perimeter to reduce the likelihood of a breakaway.

The predicted wind change is still expected but later than previously forecasted. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and those to the south of the fire are advised to take the wind change into consideration when checking your bushfire survival plan.

Road closures are in place in and around the fireground.

Property owners needing to return to their properties are advised that emergency services can provide access to some roads. You may be required to provide a drivers licence or similar photo ID before you enter the area. Please use caution as hazards such as falling trees, reduced visibility from dust and smoke and other vehicles may still be present. Bona Fide residents may access the area via the following intersections:

  • Intersection of Muana Road and Boconnoc Park Road
  • Intersection of Emu Flat Road and Benny's Hill Road
  • Intersection of Jacobs Range Road to Scobie Road

Detour - Blyth Road is closed and a detour via Benbournie Road is in place.

The following road closure points are in place and access will only be provided to emergency services, essential services and personnel authorised by the Incident Controller:

  • Blyth Road and Williams Road Intersection at Blyth
  • Blyth Road and Boconnic Park Road Intersection
  • Boconnic Park Road and Scobie Road Intersection.

Residents are advised to check their properties for the presence of fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters. The public is advised to take care in the fire area over the next few days.

Members of the public: please do not enter the area unless necessary to ensure your safety, that of the firefighters and the residents protecting their property.
