Update on fire near Clare in the Mid North

CFS advises that the bushfire at Boconnoc Park, west of Clare in the Mid North is contained.

There are no current bushfire messages for this fire at this time.

Crews will remain at the site today and overnight with further shifts currently being planned.

Ash, dust and smoke may will be visible from the fireground today with strong winds and active fire burning in a decommissioned mine shaft and a haystack inside control lines lines.

This week has been a timely reminder that we are not out of the the Fire Danger Season and that there still remains a very real threat of a significant fire occurring under fire weather conditions.

Residents are advised to check their properties for the presence of fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters. The public is advised to take care in the fire area over the next few days as hazards such as falling trees, smoke and reduced visibility remain.

Members of the public: please do not enter the area unless necessary to ensure your safety, that of the firefighters and the residents protecting their property.

A speed restrictions of 40 km will remain in place between Blyth and Clare on the Blyth Road until further notice.
