Large Haystack Fire West Of Balaklava In The Mid-North

ISSUED FOR BOWMANS

CFS is attending a large haystack fire west of Balaklava in the mid-north of South Australia.

The fire is currently burning through approximately 500 to 1000 large bales of hay, and the fire may be visible in the area of Port Wakefield, Balaklava and the Augusta Highway.

CFS firefighters will remain at the fire overnight in order to take advantage of the cooler overnight temperatures to fight the fire.

It is expected that CFS firefighters will remain at the fire for several days with the possibility of smoke being present in the area.

You are advised to close all doors and windows and stay indoors if you suffer from any respiratory or cardiac conditions.

Motorists are advised to be careful on the roads, as smoke may reduce visibility.
