INCIDENT UPDATE FOR BUCHFELDE FIRE
Issued for BUCHFELDE, approximately 3km west of Gawler in the Mid North.
CFS advises that crews are continuing to work on stopping the spread of a grass fire burning near Buchfelde, close to the Gawler River, approximately 3km West of Gawler.
CFS crews on 16 trucks are in attendance with the support MFS and SAAS crews. Firefighters may be continuing to work on this fire during the night to ensure the heavy vegetation is fully extinguised.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be arcing off a nearby power line.
Although the threat to the community has reduced, this fire is continuing to burn slowly in the river bed in heavy vegetation and this is producing a lot of smoke which may be visible for several hours.
The community are advised to close all windows and doors and stay inside, especially those with respiratory or cardiac conditions.
To ensure your safety, and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
