Incident Update for Bunbury Fire

ISSUED FOR BUNBURY

A fire at Bunbury in the South East between Keith and the Coorong has been burning since December 20.

It has burnt over 7,300 hectares in and around Bunbury Conservation Reserve.

The fire has been burning in sandy terrain making access difficult and there are multiple hot spots.

The fire is active in the south western section however it is still currently within the main control lines. Despite the work of ground crews it is likely that with the forecast winds this fire will expand in size.

Initially the winds are likely to push the fire in a south easterly direction until the middle of the day.

The winds are forecast to change in the early afternoon and the fire is expected to move in a north easterly direction.

Dry lightning is also forecast to occur over the day as the change moves through.

There is the potential for the fire to move into Gum Lagoon Conservation Park.

Property owners in the area are advised to be alert to the changing conditions and to be prepared.
