ISSUED FOR BUNDALEER NORTH
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises people in and around the area of Bundaleer North near Jamestown in the Mid North, that CFS crews are working to extinguish a grass/forest fire that started earlier this afternoon. The fire is currently burning in forest plantation in an easterly direction towards RM Williams Way with no townships currently under threat.
Approximately 50 CFS firefighters on 10 trucks supported by 4 aircraft, local Farm Fire Units and heavy machinery are currently working to extinguish the fire. CFS aircraft including Fire Bombers have been working in conjunction with firefighters on the ground, where stumps and trees left from previous plantation rows are making the area in-accessible. It is expected that crews will remain on scene overnight.
This fire is causing smoke to drift in an easterly direction towards RM Williams Way. Anyone impacted by the smoke is advised to close all doors and windows and stay indoors. Be careful when driving as smoke may reduce visibility.
