ISSUED FOR BUNDALEER NORTH
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises people in and around the area of Bundaleer North near Jamestown in the Mid North, that CFS crews are working to extinguish a grass/forest fire that started in the afternoon of Friday 20 October 2023. The fire is currently contained to 34ha burning in forest plantation and smoke is drifting in a North Easterly direction towards RM Williams Way & Jamestown.
Approximately twenty CFS firefighters on 4 trucks remain on scene with local Farm Fire Units and heavy machinery. They are currently working to extinguish the fire. Firefighters have worked with heavy machinery to install mineral earth breaks around the perimeter of the fire. Stumps and trees left from previous plantation rows continue to burn and produce smoke. Saturday afternoon winds are expected to strengthen from the South West. It is expected smoke will increase during this time. Firefighters will continue to extinguish the fire over the coming days.
There are no road closures in place for this fire, at times smoke may impact RM Williams way and drivers should only proceed if safe to do so with caution.
