ISSUED FOR BUNDALEER NORTH
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises people in and around the area of Bundaleer North near Jamestown in the Mid North of South Australia, that CFS crews continue working to extinguish the forest fire that started in the afternoon of Friday 20 October 2023. The fire is currently contained to 34ha burning in forest plantation.
Saturday afternoon winds are expected to strengthen from the South West increasing smoke and causing it to drift in a North Easterly direction towards RM Williams Way and Jamestown. Smoke may remain over these areas for the next few days. Members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving in this area.
Approximately 50 CFS firefighters on 10 trucks remain on scene with local Farm Fire Units and heavy machinery. Firefighters have worked with heavy machinery operators to install mineral earth breaks around the perimeter of the fire. Stumps and trees left from previous plantation rows continue to burn and produce smoke.
There are currently no road closures in place for this fire.
