CANNAWIGARA FIRE
ISSUED FOR CANNAWIGARA
Yesterday crews were responded to a fire at Cannawigara, west of the township of Bordertown.
Nine fire trucks and 45 personnel attended, along with resources from Department for Environment and Water (DEW). Air support also attended and carried out six drops.
Firefighters have been working throughout the night in preparation for deteriorating weather conditions today. The fire is currently contained with crews still on scene.
There are still trees smouldering within the blacked out area.
If the fire is to flare up during the forecast weather conditions, it is likely to move in a southerly direction.
Those properties to the south of this fire need to remain vigilant and aware of changing conditions. People should enact their Bushfire Survival Plan and keep updated via local ABC radio and public information sources, such as the CFS website.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area of Cannawigara Road, to allow fire crews to work safely and to decrease congestion.
