ISSUED FOR CHERRY GARDENS

An Emergency Warning Message and Watch and Act Message remains current for these fires.

CFS has increased their attendance at the fires that started at Cherry Gardens just after 4:00pm on Hicks Hills Road, with more than 200 firefighters from the Country Fire Service, Metropolitan Fire Service and Department for Environment and Water continuing to work to reduce the spread of this fire.

Crews have been working in extremely hot and windy conditions in difficult terrain with little relief expected overnight with the warm conditions to continue.

The fires which are burning in scrub, forest and grasslands are visible to the wider community from all directions and as a result the broader community is being asked to continue to monitor the situation.

There are road closures in areas surrounding the fires and we are asking the community to avoid coming in to the area, these road closures will continue to change as this fire progresses.

There are also wide spread reports of smoke impacting the broader community. To reduce the impacts of smoke residents should ensure that all windows and doors remain closed and take care if needing to drive in areas where there is smoke present due to reduced visibility.

Emergency services will be working on and around roads motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads near the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions. Monitor www.traffic.sa.gov.au for updated information.
