Coles Bushfire in the Lower South East

A fire burning out of control in bluegum plantations, scrub and grassland at Coles, near Lucindale in the state's lower south east will continue to keep firefighters busy well into the night.

Mourning the loss of one of their own while another remains in a serious condition in hospital after an incident on the fireground involving a falling tree, CFS crews will actively continue working along the fires' perimeter with the support of Victorian CFA, DEW, Farm Fire Units, forest industry crews, heavy plant machinery. SA Police, SES and Salvation Army are also in attendance.

Aerial firefighting resources will continue the firefighting effort until last light tonight.

Smoke will continue to be seen and smelt by residents in the areas to the south, southwest and west.

The community is reminded to stay vigilant and monitor conditions throughout the next few days as its expected that the conditions will continuously change.
