Incident Update for Coombe-Keith area

ISSUED FOR Dukes Hwy in the Coombe to Keith area

The CFS is attending multiple fires near the Dukes Highway between Coombe and Keith in the Upper South East of South Australia. People traveling on the Dukes Highway are advised that it is currently closed between Coombe and Keith. Travelers are advised to seek alternate routes or delay their travel plans. The road will be reopened once all fires have been declared safe and the road is safe to travel. The Rail line along side the highway has also been closed. Please be aware that Emergency Services vehicles will be operating in this area for some time. Once the road has been reopened there may still be smoke present that may impact on driver visibility.

Due to a great joint effort of CFS, DEW and 40+ private farm fire units, the fire closer to Keith has been contained with multiple saves by the crews including farm houses, shedding and $2 million worth of machinery.
