Coonalpyn Grass Fire
ISSUED FOR COONALPYN
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises people in and around the Coonalpyn area near the Coorong in the Upper South East that some smoke is visible in the area.
The smoke was caused by a grass fire that ignited a large quantity of hay bales, scrub and crops on farm land North East of the Coonalpyn township.
This fire will continue to produce smoke for some time.
The fire is not expected to break away from containment lines and does not pose a threat to the community.
CFS resources will remain on scene overnight.
To ensure the safety of emergency service personnel working along roadsides around the fire ground, road users are reminded that the speed limit is 25 kmh when passing emergency vehicles with flashing lights operating.
As a precaution residents in the area who suffer from respiratory or cardiac conditions may wish to consider closing all doors and windows and remaining indoors.
