COONALPYN SCRUB FIRE CAUSING SMOKE NEAR THE CARCUMA CONSERVATION PARK
ISSUED FOR COONALPYN
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that a fire is burning near Coonalpyn in the Upper South East and is causing smoke to be present in the area.
The fire is burning in scrub land, near and within the Carcuma Conservation Park, north east of Coonalpyn. This fire will continue to produce smoke for the next few days.
CFS resources supported by National Parks will remain working on scene for the next few days to extinguish the fire. Heavy machinery has put in control lines with the intention to protect the conservation park and neighbouring properties.
To ensure the safety of emergency service personnel working along roadsides around the fire ground, road users are reminded that the speed limit is 25 kmh when passing emergency vehicles with flashing lights operating.
As a precaution residents in the area who suffer from respiratory or cardiac conditions may wish to consider closing all doors and windows and remaining indoors.
