Incident Update for Cudlee Creek fire
ISSUED FOR CUDLEE CREEK
A Watch and Act message is current for the Cudlee Creek fire.
There is fire activity in the north-west section of the fire ground and Gorge Road is now closed from Castambul to Gumeracha with SA Police in attendance at road blocks. For road closure information go to www.traffic.sa.gov.au
Many of the roads in other areas have been reopened to local residents only. Community members returning to townships are advised that they will need to show photo identification to demonstrate that they are local residents. Workers may also be allowed into some areas if they can show photo identification and have a legitimate reason for entering the area.
Drivers are advised to use extreme caution as there may be stock wandering across roads due to damaged fences and visibility may be reduced. Landowners are asked to secure stock. Speed restrictions will likely be in place in some areas.
If you are not a local resident please avoid the broader affected area to allow emergency services and support agencies to do their work safely and efficiently. SA Police are in attendance throughout the fire area.
Given the level of operational activity the strategic burn planned for this morning has been postponed and will be reassessed later today.
Emergency Relief Centres have been established in the following locations: Turramurra Recreation Centre - 1000 Lower North East Road, Highbury and Mount Barker High School - 2 Wellington Road, Mount Barker.
Relief Centres are providing accommodation and services to assist people who have been displaced. The Centres can also offer access to information and advice regarding insurance claims and access to emergency financial assistance.
