Incident Update - Cudlee Creek Fire
ISSUED FOR CUDLEE CREEK
A Watch and Act message is current for the Cudlee Creek fire.
The back burn undertaken today may still be visible till approximately 0100am and has a significant amount of resources working to extinguish the burn.
There are a significant amount of trees still smouldering causing weakening to the structure creating a risk of them falling. Residents and workers are asked to be cautious when moving around any trees that have been damaged by fire.
All roads have been reopened to local residents only. People are reminded these road closures are for your safety. Community members returning to townships are reminded of the requirement to show photo identification with proof of residency within the fire affected area to gain access. Workers may also be allowed into some areas if they can show photo identification and have a legitimate reason for entering the area. For road closure information go to www.traffic.sa.gov.au
Drivers are advised to use extreme caution as there may be stock wandering across roads due to damaged fences and smoke may reduce visibility. Landowners are asked to secure stock. Speed restrictions will likely be in place in some areas.
If you are not a local resident please avoid the broader affected area to allow emergency services and support agencies to do their work safely and efficiently. SA Police are in attendance throughout the fire area.
Residents returning home are advised that there will be flare-ups and significant smoke in the fire area. If you see unattended fire call 000. People with health issues are advised not to return.
SA Power Networks are still working in the area to restore power as soon as possible.
Emergency Relief Centres have been established in the following locations: Turramurra Recreation Centre - 1000 Lower North East Road, Highbury and Mount Barker High School - 2 Wellington Road, Mount Barker. These centres will be staffed from 7am to 10pm daily.
Relief Centres are providing services to assist people who have been displaced. The Centres can also offer access to information and advice regarding insurance claims and access to emergency financial assistance.
