Incident Update - Cudlee Creek fire - Residents to remain vigilant
ISSUED FOR CUDLEE CREEK
A Watch and Act message is current for the Cudlee Creek fire.
There has been flareups throughout the previous day with crews attending to breakouts and undertaking asset protection.
Similar weather conditions will be experienced today before temperatures and winds start to increase on Friday.
Thermal imaging equipment is being used to identify hot spots so that crews can strategically target areas of concern, particularly on the western perimeter ahead of forecast wind changes later in the week.
Total Fire Ban conditions are forecast to return by Friday. Saturday will be very hot and windy with thunderstorms.
Temperatures will continue to increase up until New Years' Day with a change due on Monday bringing strong winds and lightning.
Any localised winds, along with the forecast weather will increase the chances of fire outbreaks. Everyone needs to remain vigilant.
There are large areas of unburnt vegetation within the fire ground. These areas may be impacted by fire if an outbreak occurs.
There is a significant police presence on the fire ground with additional patrols active.
Please be advised that road access is being continually reviewed and roads may close at short notice. Refer to www.traffic.sa.gov.au for the latest information.
