A CATASTROPHIC Total Fire Ban is still in place for today, Monday 30-Dec-2019, in the Mt Lofty Ranges.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and be prepared to act to ensure their own safety, as the situation over the next 12hrs may change rapidly.

If you see an unattended fire call triple zero (000).

The latest observations confirm that the south westerly wind change is being seen across the fire ground. There is still a chance of a freshening wind change and thunderstorm activity with lightening late this afternoon.

Properties to the East of the fire ground are at most risk of outbreaks during Monday's Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating. This includes the following localities:

• Brukunga
• Callington
• Charleston
• Dawesley
• Gumeracha
• Hay Valley
• Kanmantoo
• Lenswood
• Lobethal
• Mount Pleasant
• Mount Torrens
• Nairne
• Oakbank
• Petwood
• Rockleigh
• Tepko
• Totness
• Tungkillo
• Woodside

Residents inside the fire ground need to be alert for hotspots and re-ignitions. Residents adjoining the fire ground should activate their Bushfire Survival Plan now.

The community is asked not to enter the fire affected area as it is not safe.

Police continue to have a significant presence on the fire ground.

Road access is being continually reviewed and roads may close at short notice. There is still the threat of falling branches and whole trees and stock wandering on the road. A large amount of road signage has been damaged adding an extra risk to road travel. Refer to www.traffic.sa.gov.au for the latest information.
