INCIDENT UPDATE FOR DEEPWATER FIRE
ISSUED FOR DEEPWATER
The Deepwater fire has burnt approx. 2300 hectares of scrub and grass in private land near Keith in the Upper South East.
CFS continues to work with local land holders and Department of Environment and Water (DEW) to maintain control lines around this fire. Sandy and swampy areas are continuing to pose some challenges, significant resourcing is in place to manage those.
Due to the heavy fuels that the fire has passed through, there are still some smouldering tree stumps and logs within the burnt ground that are producing smoke.
This fire is likely to continue producing smoke in the area. If you suffer from any respiratory illnesses, please consider closing doors and windows. If you need to travel in the area, be aware smoke may impair your visibility. Please take care and drive to the conditions.
