ISSUED FOR DUCK PONDS
CFS advises that the bushfire that started in the vicinity of Duck Ponds on Monday the 11th of November and impacted on the western outskirts of Port Lincoln is now contained. Fire activity and weather conditions on the fireground have abated with decreasing winds, rising relative humidity and low temperatures continuing to aid firefighting efforts.
Multiple CFS crews are continuing operations on the fireground and are supported by SES volunteers. Hot spots and burning trees within the fireground are likely to burn for several days and may continue to produce smoke.
The public are asked to avoid this area. Emergency vehicles are still operating and smoke is still present, reducing visibility on some roads. Please drive to the conditions and adhere to temporary speed restrictions that are in place around the impacted area.
