Incident Update for Fisher Grass Fire
Issued for FISHER GRASS FIRE near SWAN REACH IN THE MURRAYLANDS.
There is a grass and scrub fire at FISHER on the western side of the river to Swan Reach in the Murraylands, South Australia.
A warning message has been issued for the Fisher Grass Fire. Refer to the CFS website cfs.sa.gov.au for the most up to date warning information.
The fire is believed to have been started from lightning strikes in the area earlier today.
The fire is currently burning in difficult to access grass and scrub and is 47 hectares in size. Following a wind change, the fire is now burning in a north to northeasterly direction, influenced by local weather conditions.
Firefighters from the Country Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife Services SA are currently working on the fireground, supported by five water bombing and two observational aircraft. Heavy machinery is also being used to allow firefighters access to the fire edge, so that they can work to stop the spread of the fire.
There are approximately 30 firefighters on site.
Firefighters will remain on scene overnight until the risk has been reduced.
Residents near the Punyelroo area should remain aware and and informed, however the fire is not currently posing a risk to the public.
This fire will be causing smoke in the area, and members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving through the general area.
