Fox Scrub Fire

Issued for FOX near Callendale.

Firefighters remain on scene fighting a scrub fire at Fox, about 40 kilometres from Lucindale in the Lower South East.

The fire has burned about 177 hectares in thick native scrub and continues to burn out of control under the influence of strong winds.

Approximately 80 CFS volunteers on 20 trucks, one CFA strike team and Forestry firefighters are currently working on the fireground, supported by seven aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft.

The two Large Air Tankers (LAT), from Victoria and the ACT, have started creating retardant lines on the northern edge of the fire and will continue to work until last light.

Heavy machinery is working alongside the LATs and is creating a mineral earth break on the fireground to assist firefighters to slow and stop the spread of the fire.
Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.

Roads have been closed due to this incident and it is unknown when they will be reopened. Callendale Road from the intersection of Diagonal Road and Broadlands Lane is closed. A full list of current road closures is available at: traffic.sa.gov.au
