FOX

Fox Bushfire

Issued for FOX at Callendale approximately 20km south of Lucindale in the Lower South East.

This fire remains uncontained and is predicted to continue burning within a large patch of private native scrub and plantation timber over the coming days. So far the fire has burnt approximately 500 hectares and impacted at least one uninhabited property.

More than 70 CFS volunteers supported by Forest Industry Brigades, Farm Fire Units, SA Police and contractors with heavy equipment have been on the fireground overnight. Weather conditions on the fireground have eased allowing crews to progress with control lines around the fire which will help limit further spread.

Lower temperatures today will support firefighters in continuing efforts to control the fire, however, if predicted gusty winds are experienced fire risk may be elevated. People in the area are reminded to remain vigilant and stay informed. CFS firefighters are being supported by strike teams from Department of Environment and Water (DEW), Country Fire Authority (CFA) and SA Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS).

Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.

Roads have been closed due to this incident and it is unknown when they will be reopened. Callendale Road from the intersection of Diagonal Road and Broadlands Lane is closed. A full list of current road closures is available at: traffic.sa.gov.au.
