Fox Scrub Fire

Issued for FOX near Callendale, approximately 20km south of Lucindale in the Lower South East.

Firefighters on the Fox fire have created and strengthened control lines around most of the fire edge today, helped by mild temperatures and some light rain.

Approximately 2-3mm of rain fell over the fireground overnight, which assisted in reducing fire activity; however, high south westerly winds have created challenging conditions for crews, with gusts of up to 60km/h.

Approximately 110 firefighters have been on the fireground today, supported by Forest Industry Brigades, the Country Fire Authority, Department for Environment and Water (DEW), Farm Fire Units, SA Police and contractors with heavy equipment. CFS and DEW strike teams will remain on the fireground overnight.

The fire remains uncontained and is predicted to continue burning within a large patch of private native scrub and plantation timber over the coming days. The fire has burned approximately 530 hectares and impacted at least one uninhabited property.

In addition to creating control lines, firefighters have been working hard to extinguish hot spots that have been continuing to burn across the fireground. Moderate weather conditions are predicted for tomorrow and Tuesday ahead of forecast hot and windy conditions on Wednesday.

Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away.
