German Flat Hay Stack

The Country Fire Service are continuing to monitor a hay stack fire near Tantanoola in the Lower South East.
Emergency Services were alerted to smoke from forestry cameras located at The Bluff and Carpenters Rocks on Wednesday night the 17th of January. Initially, five fire trucks with 25 CFS volunteer firefighters, found approximately 400 hay bales, around a hectare of grass and a Manitou Telehandler (forklift) alight on arrival with an estimated loss of $90,000.
CFS volunteer firefighters have worked with earth moving equipment today to spread out and extinguish the remaining hay.
