Update on the fire at Gosse on Kangaroo Island

ISSUED FOR MOUNT TAYLOR ROAD, GOSSE, MOUNT STOCKDALE ROAD, SOUTH COAST ROAD AND VIVONNE BAY AREAS
The SA Country Fire Service advises that there is a Watch and Act message still active for this fire. This warning message will be updated at 6pm on the 7th of December or as the situation changes.`
This warning message has been issued for people in MOUNT TAYLOR ROAD, GOSSE, MOUNT STOCKDALE ROAD, SOUTH COAST ROAD AND VIVONNE BAY AREAS.
A wind change is currently impacting the fireground and this may increase fire activity in some parts of the fireground. Of particular concern is the area around "Mount Stockdale" and the North West corner. Fire continues to burn in scrub.
The Gosse fire is currently about 1300 hectares in size. Local and mainland CFS, Department of Environment and Water, Forestry SA firefighters and some Farm Fire Units are currently working on the fireground and are being supported by fire bombing aircraft. The fire is still actively burning at some points. Crews are currently working on the perimeter of the fire.
Motorists are advised not to drive into this area. A large amount of smoke is visible across most of Kangaroo Island.

ROAD CLOSURES
Road Closure restrictions have been modified for the South Coast Road - this road is now open to locals and essential users only.
Harriet Road has been opened but users of these roads should remain alert to fire conditions in the area.
People who chose to relocate from Vivonne Bay, are advised that the area remains under a "Watch and Act" message. People may now re-enter the area and should remain alert and follow the information provided in that message and enact their Bushfire Survival Plan.
Crabbs Road is now open.
Some roads remain closed due to this incident.
Mount Taylor Road remains closed between East West One Highway and South Coast Road.
East West Two Highway is closed between Harriet Road and Mount Taylor Road.
Mount Stockdale Road remains closed between South Coast Road and Mount Taylor Road.
