Ironbank fire update
ISSUED FOR IRONBANK
At about 12:45pm today, CFS crews responded to a grass fire on Ironbank Road at Ironbank. On arrival, they found a fire burning in steep terrain heading towards one house, which was protected by first arriving crews.
There are approximately 50 CFS volunteers - on 10 firetrucks and three bulk water carriers - currently on scene, who are being supported by crews from the Department for Environment and Water.
Whilst the fire has now been declared contained, having burnt about one hectare, it is still burning in heavy vegetation. Crews will be on scene for a number of hours, using machinery and hand tools to break apart piles of burning logs, as they continue to access areas of the fire to ensure it is fully extinguished.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, however it is not believed to be suspicious.
