JOANNA

Scrub fire at Joanna

Issued for Joanna in the South East, 15km South of Naracoorte .

The CFS advises that a scrub fire near Struan approximately 15km South of Naracoorte in the South East is burning in dense scrub and causing smoke to drift in the vicinity of the Naracoorte Caves National Park, the fire has burned approximately 20ha.

A warning message has been issued for the Struan Fire. Refer to the CFS website cfs.sa.gov.au for the most up to date warning information.

CFS volunteers on 8 trucks are working to protect properties, and to prevent the fire from crossing Straun-Joanna road near Straun. CFS Volunteers are being assisted by 6 aircraft, including fire bombers, a Black hawk and observational aircraft. CFS Volunteers are also being assisted by National Parks and Wildlife, One Forty One, and other Forrest Owners fire fighters.

Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away, please do not enter the area unless necessary.

This fire may be causing a lot of smoke in the area, and members of the community are urged to take care and close all windows and doors.
