Joanna fire

Issued for JOANNA near Struan in the Lower South East of South Australia, 15 kilometres south of Naracoorte.

CFS Firefighters, supported by Department of Environment and Water and Forest Industry Brigades, have stopped this fire from spreading. The fire is in heavy scrub and is expected to continue burning over the coming days. Ahead of upcoming fire danger weather, firefighting crews and additional aircraft, are currently working to reduce the risk of this fire breaking containment lines. Challenging conditions are predicted for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with winds increasing, anyone in the surrounding areas is urged to stay informed and implement their bushfire survival plan.

This fire will continue to cause a lot of smoke in the area, and members of the community are urged to take care and close all windows and doors. At times smoke may impact roads, motorists are urged to keep their windows closes, headlights on and drive to the conditions in a safe manner. Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area. Motorists are advised to stay away and please do not enter the area unless necessary.
