Kapinnie Scrub Fire

There is a fire burning in pockets of scrub near Bratten Way and Kiana Road near Kapinnie, on the Lower Eyre Peninsula.

A warning message has been issued for this fire. Refer to the CFS website for the most up to date warning information.

Approximately 30 CFS volunteer firefighters and farm fire units are currently working on the fireground, strategically backburning due to an expected wind change tomorrow morning. CFS crews will remain on the fireground into tonight.

CFS Firefighters have prevented the fire from spreading, with approximatly 200 hectaers burnt.

This fire may be causing a lot of smoke in the area, and members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving.

Roads have been closed due to this incident, including Brimpton Lake Road, Rodgers Road and Douglas Well Road. At this time it is unknown when roads will be reopened.
