KATARAPKO ISLAND

Katarapko Island Fires

Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km for Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.

The CFS, SA Metropolitan Fire Service, Department for Environment and Water, SA Police and SA State Emergency Services are responding to multiple ignitions near Katarapko Island.

Firefighters will remain on the fireground into the evening to manage the fires. Aircraft and boats have provided support throughout the day.

The cause of the fires is yet to be determined.

These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however smoke will be visible for some distance.

You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.

Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
