Katarapko Island Fires
Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km from Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.
The CFS and Department for Environment and Water are continuing to respond to multiple fires near Katarapko Island, in the Riverland.
Firefighters have continued to work to contain these fires throughout the day, and have been supported by the SA Metropolitan Fire Service, aircraft and boats. Boats have been utilised to provide access and assist with firefighting operations.
Firefighters will remain on the fireground throughout the evening to manage these fires.
These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke will be visible for some distance.
You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.
Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
