Katarapko Island Fires
Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km south of Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.
Overnight, CFS and Department for Environment and Water firefighters patrolled the fires near Katarapko Island, in the Riverland.
Today, ahead of weather forecast for tomorrow, firefighters will construct control lines on the southern edge of the island and will reinforce control lines on the northern edge.
Approximately 30 firefighters from CFS and DEW are being boated to the Island to perform this work.
These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke will be visible for some distance.
You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.
Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
