Katarapko Island Fires
Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km south of Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.
Approximately 30 firefighters from the Country Fire Service and Department for Environment and Water are continuing to construct control lines on the southern edge of the Island and reinforcing control lines on the northern edge.
The firefighters are being transported to the island by boat and aerial assistance is supporting the firefighters on the fireground.
These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke will be visible for some distance.
You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.
Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
