Katarapko Island Fires
Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km from Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.
Approximately 30 firefighters from the Country Fire Service and Department for Environment and Water have worked tirelessly throughout today in inaccessible terrain to halt the forward rate of spread of the fires. Firefighters have also been supported by aircraft.
Firefighters will monitor the fire from the mainland overnight.
These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke may be visible for some distance.
You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.
Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
